A Place Called Home
Oh mi gosh! Despite the high cost of living in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, plus the outrageous real estate market, I just got the good news today. We are now official Silicon Valley residents! Yep, we'll be close to Santana Row, Raging Waters, Great America, Silicon Valley/Bay Area business headquarters such as Google, Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Yahoo, Hewlett Packard, SAP, IBM, CISCO, Sun Microsystems, Intel, VeriSign, Oracle, Electronic Arts (to name a few), Stanford University, Gilroy Outlets, etc. We just got the keys to our new place. And we can now move in any time! Wow, thank you dear realtor. You're the best! And of course, thank you God! You are the bestest! So after work and after Al's dental appointment, we went straight to our new abode in San Jose to get the key, and of course to check out the new place. We are fully satisfied with our starter place although the space is small. Yeah, I know, it took us a long time to get this since we had different priorities then. Al wanted this place anyway. I think we were lucky because it is very close to transportation, close to a small plaza and by a major street, close to our hospital, and close to a nice mall. It is also inside its own circle that give the well-maintained area its privacy. The neighbors seems pretty cool too. We were lucky to get the place since it seems that the former owner bought it for investment and didn't live much in it since he lived in Europe. And we didn't have to bid too since he was in a hurry selling the place. The offer was actually on a first come, first serve basis which is rare in a Bay Area real estate market. The place has a little patio with extra storage and wide sliding doors, cathedral ceilings, modern silver hardware, lots of storage and mirrors in the bedroom, original dark brown kitchen cabinetry and tiles that'll match our mahogany furniture, complete and new kitchen appliances plus washer and dryer, nice alternating wall colors, gas brick fireplace, centralized airconditioning and heating, and pergo flooring all through out the home. The bathroom has a marble countertop, and the appliances stayed, including the washer and dryer (I wish they were stainless steel though). We also got our first visitors today, Mo and Cesar (btw, thanks for the excellent Black Angus dinner and the short tour to the neighborhood). By the way, this is why they call this area Silicon Valley. Below is a sneak peek at the new residence -
