Kwik-E-Mart in Mountain View

I've been meaning to go there for the longest time since it opened, but I never really made time to do so. Today, my friends, Al and I decided to finally check it out before The Simpsons movie opens in theaters. Kwik E-Marts are the convenience stores featured in The Simpsons cartoons. Promoters of the movie decided to convert select 7-Eleven stores across the country in Kwik-E-Marts, and Mountain View was the chosen one in the whole Bay Area. Luckily, Al just works close-by. He's so close that he actually passes by it every morning. How special is this store? Kwik-E-Marts are only 12 in the world, and the Mountain View branch is one of them. It's close to Google and I heard a lot of Google peeps went there the first day, some even wore Simpsons costumes. Click here to check out a video of the place.

So today, Al, myself, Arlene and Anne planned to meet in front of the Kwik-E-Mart store after work. We all work on or near the South Bay that it was convenient for us to get there. The plaza seems new, and the Kwik E-Mart store was all in yellow, with a sign and some characters near the sign. There were a couple of people in there already, not usual for a 7-Eleven store, but not too much that we had to fall in line. Not yet.

Obviously, I had to take pictures since this is a once in a lifetime event. First thing I grabbed was the Radioactive Man comic book which I believe would be a rare find in the future. Then there were Simpsons cups, pez dispensers with candy, and funny signs everywhere. Al grabbed a box of pink sprinkle-licious donuts that Homer Simpson usually eats in the show, while Arlene and I grabbed a cup to get some Blue Woo-Hoo Vanilla Squishees. Too bad they didn't have Krusty-O's and Buzz Cola's at the time, but I'll try again on Monday. Anne got some hotdogs and bought one for her hubby. I actually had fun just going around and taking pictures.

After the Kwik-E-mart visit, we all went to downtoan Mountain View by Castro Street to eat dinner. We ended up at Krung Siam Thai Restaurant on teh corner of Villa and Castro streets. The food and ambiance was good, and the price was good as well. We chatted a bit, vented a bit (hehe) and called it a day. Check out our Kwik-E-Mart pics here -

UPDATE - We saw The Simpsons on its first day showing, and the theater was packed! Anyway, we highly recommend it (not for kids though). It was off the hook! The movie made me laugh out loud - hilarious!
